Test Tuesday: Tempera Paint

In this Test Tuesday, we are testing tempera paints. I am using Crayola brand tempera paints in the following colors; Ivory White, Pure Black, Radiant Red, Deep Blue and Bright Yellow.

Readi-Board samples

Adams Premium samples

The paint applied to all of the board surfaces very well, and with vivid colors. The yellow paint appeared to be the least opaque of those tested, but I have noticed this in acrylic paints as well. The tempera worked extremely well on all of the Readi-Board and Adams Premium samples. Similarly, the Readi-Grid sample performed well. I did notice that the black paint highlighted the grid lines slightly.

No Paper, Readi-Erase, Readi Water Resistant and Readi-Grid samples

The paint applied well to the No Paper, Readi-Erase and Readi Water Resistant samples. Using my finger nail, I attempted to scratch the paint off of these samples. The paint could be removed from the No Paper sample, but the foam was damaged in the process. The paint was easily scratched off of the Readi-Erase surface. The paint could be scratched off of the Readi Water Resistant board, but it took more effort than the Readi-Erase and some color residue was left behind.
